Commercial bed bug treatment in Newcastle

Hotels, guest houses, short lets, hostels and care settings get bed bugs through no fault of their own: guests bring them in. What matters is a fast, discreet response that takes a room out of use for as short a time as possible, and a record you can show.

Commercial work is priced per job after a survey, not from a price list. We find a firm that works with businesses in Newcastle and can visit at quiet times.

Is this the right service?

What a business usually needs

  • A visit at a time that suits the building, such as late morning between check-out and check-in.
  • The affected room and the rooms on each side, above and below checked, not just the one with the complaint.
  • Plain vans or unbranded clothing if you ask for them.
  • A written report of what was found, treated and when, for your own records and any complaint.

Avoid

  • Moving a guest to another room without bagging their luggage first. The bugs travel with them.
  • Re-letting a treated room before the firm has checked it.

Businesses in Newcastle

Newcastle is a busy city for visitors, with hotels and aparthotels around the Quayside, Grey Street and Central Station, short lets across the city, and a large number of student blocks. Rooms that change hands every night or every term are where bed bugs are most often brought in.

Newcastle City Council does not list a bed bug service for businesses, so commercial premises need a private firm. Many businesses agree routine inspections with one firm, so a room can be checked as soon as a guest reports a bite.

How a commercial job runs

  1. Take the room out of use

Leave the bedding on, bag any guest luggage, and keep the door shut.

  2. Survey

The firm checks the room and the rooms around it, then prices the job.

  3. Treat

Spray, heat or both, at a time that suits the building.

  4. Check and record

A follow-up visit before the room is let again, and a written report for your file.

A room out of use costs money. Tell us about it and we look for a local firm that works with businesses.

Straight answers

How quickly can a room be back in use?

After heat, often the next day. After spray, it depends on the product and the follow-up visit. Ask the firm when they will sign the room off.

Can treatment be discreet?

Yes. Ask for unmarked vehicles and plain clothing, and a visit at a quiet time. Most firms that work with hotels do this as a matter of course.

Do I need to check the rooms around it?

Yes. Bed bugs travel along pipe runs and wall voids, and guests move between rooms. A good survey includes the rooms on each side, above and below.

What about the guest's belongings?

Bag them before they move rooms, and let the guest know how to deal with their luggage at home. The NHS has general advice on bites.

Does the council handle commercial bed bugs?

Newcastle City Council does not list a bed bug service for businesses. Check the council page for its current list.

Can you find a firm for a care home or hostel?

Yes. Tell us about the building and any residents who cannot easily leave a room, and we look for a firm used to working around them.
